Ideas and potential are fuel to an unquenchable fire in the heart of an entrepreneur, and as men, you and I are built for the adventure. The moment we set our eyes on a mission, we set out to conquer… to succeed, but along with our natural desires for adventure and to conquer comes the danger of loosing what’s most important to us.

The moment I made the decision to date my now wife, Nicole, I set everything aside for the pursuit. I changed colleges to be closer. I changed my career to impress her. I changed anything I had to in order to succeed in the pursuit of winning her hand in marriage and ultimately her heart. Finally, three and a half years later, on November 25, 2006 I had succeeded, and we were married, and I got to spend my life with the woman I loved more than anyone else on the planet.

As men, we’re wired for the pursuit. We get energy, adventure, and purpose from it. It could be the pursuit of a career, a ministry, a business, or anything else really. We’re wired for the challenge and process, but what happens when, in our pursuit, we loose what’s most important to us?

Men, if your married and┬áin business, guard yourself! The pursuit of starting, growing, and running your own business is the most consuming pursuit I’ve ever experienced. Guard yourself from setting your wife and kids on the back burner in pursuit of your dream. For what good is a strong business without a strong relationship with the love of your life with whom you can share the benefits together?
